I must admit i've been doing very well on this walk lately... exhibiting self control, really casting down my thoughts and to be honest not really thinking about sex like I used to. I remember a time when my thoughts were consumed with desire, lust and the thought of it.
I did however make an almost deadly mistake recently in a weak moment of hormonal rage! Yep I sure did. I was feeling kind a frisky... and I can't even tell you what came over me, when I decided to text an ex. I was having this memory of him for some reason and I allowed my thoughts to linger on a moment with him. So like a dummy I sent a text message to "say hey". You know those texts right? The ones that always lead to more.
Anyhow that text led to a phone conversation, an innocent one (right). We talked about old times, laughed, caught up then hung up.
Then it came.... a text from him later asking if he could come over to see me. SMH what did I do!
I know exactly what I did.. I did what I should never have done, I opend the proverbial can of worms.
I am thankful though that I have built a resolve and strength to resist, because I easily declined the offer, though I may have even considered it briefly. I then apologized for even contacting him.
See this is the reason you should delete old numbers.....
Usually I get lots of unsolicited text messages, calls or even random appearances at my door.... now those things I can't control... but I made the error this time.
Those are the things we have to really consider on this walk. We conciously set ourselves up for failure.
The moment passed and I passed the test... awe the Lord is good and faithful to give you a route of escape.
Can you imagine if I had allowed him to come over?
Note to self another reason to not remain friends with ex boyfriends..
Yep the sausage was callin but I didn't answer.
I know I'm not the only one this happens to right? ****big grin
This Blog will chronicle my journey of celibacy this year as a Christian single, to encourage those who desire to do the same but don't know how or who struggle and fall. Or even for those who have no desire but may find interest in the subject matter. Periodic posts, candid, honest & transparent discussion about the difficulties of maintaining a pure life as a Christian/non Christian; discussing single life in general, do's & don'ts.

Crucify the Flesh do you know what that means?
KEEP YOUR SAUSAGE AND COOKIES TO YOURSELF UNTIL MARRIAGE AND CRUCIFY THE FLESH.
I have provided some great scriptures below to help in understanding this effort.
By specifying these works of the flesh and fruits of the Spirit, the apostle directs us both what we are to avoid and oppose and what we are to cherish and cultivate, so he informs us that this is the sincere care and endeavour of all Christians: And those that are Christ’s, says he (those who are Christians indeed, not only in show and profession, but in sincerity and truth), have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
WE have not yet obtained a complete victory over it (the flesh); We still have flesh as well as Spirit in us, and that has its affections and lusts, which continue to give us disturbance, but as it does not now reign in our bodies or it shouldn't...we are seeking the utter ruin and destruction of it, and to put it to death, which our Lord Jesus underwent for our sakes.
So read and soak it in.......
Romans 6:5-14
Galatians 5:24
How to Crucify the Flesh
1. Christ’s Work is already Done: Greek verb tense indicates something that was done which has
ongoing consequences in the future.
John 19:30 – So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His
head, He gave up His spirit.
Romans 6:6-11 – …knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him… Likewise you also,
Easier read then done??? Yes indeed, but it should be our pursuit as His children.
Galatians 5:24 – And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
2. Healing is an Ongoing Process: Look at the Apostle Paul as our model/example
1Corinthians 15:31 – I die daily
Romans 7:19 – The good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.
Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
2Corinthians 12:7 – And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the
revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. 8Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 9And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in
Matthew 5:29-30 – If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it iswhole body to be cast into. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is morewhole body to be cast into hell.
Matthew 5:29-30 – If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it iswhole body to be cast into. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is morewhole body to be cast into hell.
more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your hell profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your
Hebrews 10:26 – For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery
indignation which will devour the adversaries.
2Timothy 3:1-7 – But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2For men will be
lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents,
unthankful, unholy, 3unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of
good, 4traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5having a form of. And from such people turn away! 6For of this sort are those who godliness but denying its power creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Matthew 10:28 – And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear.
Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell
4. It is Christ Who Does the Work – Not Us:
1 John 1:9-10 – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
Revelation 1:5-6 – To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6and has
made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever.
Amen.
Revelation 7:14 – These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
2Corinthians 12:9 – “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
Revelation 12:11 – And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their
testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
· Jesus and Satan war in your place(s) of weakness
· Satan comes to make war whether you like it or not – Jesus only comes if you ask Him· It is no contest when Jesus meets Satan head-to-head – Jesus always wins
I found these scriptures very powerful and helpful as they pertain to our walk of celibacy and abstainence in Christ.
What are your thoughts?
If We Don’t Crucify the Flesh, It will Crucify Us:
What are your thoughts?
If We Don’t Crucify the Flesh, It will Crucify Us:
reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Easier read then done??? Yes indeed, but it should be our pursuit as His children.
Galatians 2:20
